Hello, My name is Trunetta a.k.a. Tru. I'm a wigmaker/ hairstylist in Las Vegas, NV. I've been making wigs for over 20 years. Hair has been my thing since a was a little girl; hair and a sewing machine was the reason I stayed in trouble as a little girl. I was told not to put hair products in my doll's head but I would. I was also told not to touch the sewing machine, but I was just so fascinated with it that I couldn't resist. Also, at a very young age, I discovered my great-grandmother's wig which was very intriguing to me. The three stuck with me throughout my life.
Around my senior year, I wanted to have nice new hairstyles like many of the other girls at school. I couldn't afford to go to the salon so I decided that I would leave the braids alone and start doing weaves and ponytails on myself. Shortly, after doing weaves on myself I discovered that I had a thing for installing weaves and that is when I decided to get a job in a beauty supply store. Also, while in high school I started to face some health issues which would later in life affect my hair.
To make a long story short while working at the beauty supply I got into wigs and would meet a lot of wonderful beautiful women and young ladies who suffered from hair loss and that's when my fascination with wigs sparked a fire deep within me. I began to purchase wigs, take them apart, and put them back together again. I played around with that by hand for a couple of years till I started to be bothered with carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel made it challenging to do what I love and one day I decided that I would try playing around with making them on my sewing machine. After a couple of years, I finally got it. I then invested in getting certified, and here I am today making wigs by sewing machine and doing what I love.
